{Emma} One Year
Forgive me that this is so late! Now you have learned so much in the last month and a half, I'm confused as to what was before or after your birthday! But here are the notes I have written down:
A little bit about you this month...
• You are a climber! You love to climb up into things or on to things. You especially love your sister's stepstool and climbing into the rocking chair.
• You love, love, love shoes. You bring them to us and say, "Soooooze?" You want to wear them all day.
• You pretend! You kiss and snuggle stuffed animals, put them to bed in the baby cradle and say, "Night, Night." You take care of your baby, "Bay-beeee! Night night." You love to take her for walks in the stroller, snuggle and rock her, then plop her back in the stroller.
• You also pretend to mix and eat out of the pretend kitchen.
• You drive your cars around and make sound effects.
• You have so many new words, it is crazy! You are mostly easy to understand and are emphatic about what you want, repeating yourself until someone figures out what you're trying to say. When we get it right, you start making this hilarious sound of excitement almost like you're so happy you might cry. You are just so excited about everything, words or otherwise!
• New words this month: Drink (Dink), Please (Cheese or Peas) while signing with a big smile, you touch your highchair and say "Sit" or "Seat" when you're hungry, you point and say, "See!", Swing (Sing), and my two favorites: Baby (bay-beeeee!) and Socks (Socks! Socks! SOCKS!) When we open your closet to grab some socks, you start bouncing in my arms yelling, "SOCKS SOCKS SOCKS!" All of the words you know, you say them loud and with emphasis, thus all of my exclamation points.
• When we play peekaboo, you say "Cheeeeeese!" instead of Boo!
• Your favorite books are Brown Bear, Brown Bear; Humpty Dumpty; and I See Me. You will pick Brown Bear or Humpty off the bookshelf wherever we put it, bring them to us and climb into our laps to read.
• You love to be outside!
• You love the red tricycle! When we go outside to play, you immediately walk over to it and say, "Seat?" and pat the seat.
• Sissy is still your favorite. You two are really starting to play together and it melts my heart.
• You are also starting to bicker a bit, which is pretty hilarious - mostly because you have a nasty little temper. This month, Lily accidentally hurt you and when she came over to hug and tell you she was sorry, you let her hug you then leaned back and scratched her! You little stinker.
• You still are very much a morning person - you are up early and an absolute delight at 5:30. You play alone in the living room while I drink coffee and mostly entertain yourself, having little conversations with me and rearranging your toys and books.
• You are not the happiest kid in the afternoons, and would much rather be free than constrained, so we have taken to making sure our errands are done in the morning so you are carseat-free in the afternoon. You're just so busy! You have things to do and toys to play with apparently...
