{Emma} Nine Months

Evolution of photographing a very mobile baby.

A little bit about you this month:
• You are sleeping through the night! We embarked upon some sleep training and you caught on extremely quickly; most nights, you sleep 6:45 or 7pm until 5:30am. You may wake up and squawk a bit once or twice a night, but you almost always end up laying back down within a few minutes and put yourself back to sleep. Sometimes you need to nurse around 4am, but you're still up by 6 at the latest, so I've really been trying to push you through the 4am feed. Most nights, you rock!
• You shake your head no, and you do so emphatically. If we ignore it and offer you something after you've said no, you hit said offered object - the offending item is usually food and goes flying. I always imagine you saying, "I said NO!!!!"
• You have mastered a few new words this month: you say "Night night" (nigh-nigh) when you're sleepy, "Izzy" (izzzzeeeeeee) when you see both dogs, "Cookie" (cookie) for your teething wafers, and "All done" (ah-duh, ah-duh!) sometimes when you're done nursing, but more often when you're in your carseat and tired (I think you want out of your carseat and in your crib.)
• You are a homebody and sleep a million times better in your own space.
• You put yourself to sleep! Listening to you sing and play alone before you lie down and after wake-ups is the sweetest thing ever. You love your bed.
• You play peekaboo with your blankie in the crib when you're tired.
• You ball up your blankie and snuggle it like a pillow. You also like to chew on it when you're extra tired and are having trouble falling asleep.
• I can talk to you over the monitor and tell you to get your blankie and it's time for night-night, and you do!
• You have seven teeth - your middle upper front teeth and one of your bottom lateral incisors have all cut through. Seven down, nine to go!
• You like to bite - I do not like this development.
• Specifically, you like to bite toes when people aren't paying attention. You think it is hilarious, especially when we yelp in pain.
• You can stand for a few seconds on your own!
• You are practicing transferring from one piece of furniture to another, e.g. You pull up to stand on the piano, then let go and turn toward your walker and grab it, then let go of the walker and turn back toward the piano. Over and over again.
• You are a walking machine with your walker! You are quite speedy.
• If you go too fast, you say "WHOA!" while you go up on your toes and hold on for dear life.
• You can steer your walker with one hand.
• You are still obsessed with shoes. We went to Dillard's and when you saw the shoe section, you got wide-eyed and said "Ooooooooh." You also beeline for our shoe baskets at home and like to chew on them, especially the shoelaces, any time we take our eyes off you.
• You love any sort of string (always supervised, of course.)
• You have gotten very into food, and baby girl, you get super hangry if we don't feed you when you're hungry!
• You love broccoli and any type of meat.
• You are a total nutball, and I love it. You have so much personality.
• You love Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson!
• If I say "Dance Party," you throw your arms in the air, wave them, and bop. You also love to shake your head to the beat and bop up and down.
• You bounce and squeal when you're excited to see someone.
• You follow Daddy around the house saying, "Dada! Dada! Dadddeeeeee!"
